Concept

Lithium secondary battery should be protected from over-charge or over-discharge, to maintain the maximum function. In case that charge voltage per cell, exceeds 4.5V, electrolyte is resolved and has is generated or it give pressures on safety valve, to raise pressures between cells and accordingly, electrolyte is leaked from the cell, which means the cause of increasing the risks of the explosion. On the other hand, in case that battery is over-discharged, the negative pole is damaged, to harm the function of battery. As a result, the following PCM is needed to prevent the risks of Lithium secondary battery.

Function

Function	Explanation
Protection for over-charge	It is to detect battery voltage in case that it rises by charge voltage and electric current input from outside, so that the battery does not charged more than module-set overcharge voltage.
Protection for over-discharge	It is to detect battery voltage in case that it gradually discharges by electric current consumed outside, so that the battery does not discharge less than module-set over-discharge voltage.
Protection for over-flow of electricity	It prevents or release charge and discharge electric current, so that charge and discharge electric current are not charged or discharged more than module-set over electric current with abnormal phenomenon in exterior terminal or charger.
Protection for short circuit	20 time more electric current than battery capacity flows in case of + & - short circuit, outside of battery. It prevents it, to stop the incident and protect battery.
